Sanctus was founded by Stephen Turoff and Emma Goldie in 2011 and is nearly ten years old now. The Charity was founded to support the increasing issue of homelessness in Chelmsford and surrounding areas. Primarily, Sanctus was opened as a soup kitchen in the evening but it quickly became clear that there were many individuals who needed food, drink, companionship and support during the day.
Sanctus is now open 7 days a week and provide breakfast, a freshly cooked lunch and plentiful hot and cold drinks that are served to 80+ individuals daily. Alongside this, Sanctus helps growing numbers of individuals into accommodation each year and provides a tenancy sustainment programme to maintain their tenancies. In addition to this, we offer a range of in-house support and advice services as well as activities to both inspire and motivate our clients to move forward with their lives.
